What? No babies!

That's right, it's Moms night out! We hit the town (faketown that is) last night along with hundreds of thousands of others. We saw the 7pm showing of Sex and the City and thank goodness Jackie purchased our tickets in advance because it was sold out. I'm telling you it was a crazy madhouse at that theater! I think opening night of Sex and the City was probably girls night out for 90% of the female population.

Message for single men - go to a theater where this movie is playing and if you're not a total retard you will be able to get a date. Hurry, it will never be this easy again!

After the movie we went to Brio where we shared appetizers. Brio is awesome and if you have not been there you should go tonight! The outdoor seating is fantastic and if you hit faketown on a night like last night it's perfect! Plus they have live bands at faketown center, oh and the fountain lights up! Faketown is the place to go if you want to forget what armpit of a city you really live in.

The dude drops in!

After months of sweating it Ian finally dropped in on his ramp today! Yay Ian! Lola, Daddy and I were there to witness this huge event! Way to go Ian, we are so proud of you!!!!

In unrelated news Lola and I have been sick. We're on antibiotics so hopefully we'll snap out of it soon. We stayed home today to rest. Lola woke up at 6:30am, ate some toast, drank a bottle and fell back asleep at 7:00am. She slept until 12:20! This of course is total craziness. She obviously needed rest since she's been up at night coughing. I also needed the rest and slept when she slept. She seems to be feeling a lot better this afternoon and I'm feeling just so-so. I hope we'll be back in our regular routine tomorrow.

In closing here are a couple of photos of Lola on Memorial Day. She attended a Memorial Day service at the park where there was a gun salute in memory of our fallen soldiers. It didn't seem to bother Lola but made me jump!
Her GiGi sent this super cute and very patriotic dress.

Grace's dance recital a total hit!

Lola attended Grace's dance recital today and was totally impressed with all of the cool costumes, sweet dance moves & awesome stage lighting. She made it half way through the performance before falling fast asleep. After the recital she went to lunch at Grace's house where there was a huge celebration honoring the little dancer! Good job Grace, we are so proud of you!!!

safety first

Lola is spending the long weekend in Illinois visiting family. Last night she stayed at her Great Grandma & Grandpa's house and found all kinds of awesome things to do (Max always by her side). After attempting to start a small house fire by playing at the stove she decided to tear up Grandpa's newspaper.

And during her down time she shook things up by playing with Grandpa's pills.

She spent the evening making her Great Grandpa a nervous wreck. I'm sure after her night protesting sleep he's happy to see her get the heck out of there!

on the job training

Lola is a year old now so it's about time she get a job and start pitching in around here. Since her modeling career hasn't taken off she's decided to train for a secretarial position. I tell her all the time "keep dreaming big Lola and one day you can be a secretary too!"
Today was a tough day, she had to take her typing test and kept getting distracted by instant messages from Brody's Mommy.
I reminded her "if you want to be a successful secretary you have to focus Lola!"

Lola has "connections"

Awesome connection #1 - ROWAN
Rowan hooks Lola up with tickets to the Dragons game where they meet up with
Awesome connection #2 - BRODY
who hooks them up with a behind the scenes tour!

And what was their favorite part of the day? Taking over the hallway outside of the press box and running around like a bunch of Loons! (not to be confused with the Great Lakes Loons)

The staff at LOLApalooza sends a big shout out to Rowan & family and Brody & family, thanks for a super fun day!

Road Trip

Lola took a day trip to Toledo today where she finally got to meet her Aunt Nancy, Aunt Martha & Uncle Angel! They were in town from Chicago & New York. Lola also got to visit Grandpa Chuck, Becky & Fan!
First things first, we hit up Tiger Bakery, a must since this is the BEST Middle Eastern Cuisine outside of Baghdad! For real! Lola enjoyed hummus and mujadarra while I had my regular flalfel and veggie grape leaves. Grandpa Chuck had spicy chicken and spinach pie. yummm...
After lunch we headed over to Becky's for a visit. Becky baked cookies and bought bubbles! Lola had so much fun and thank goodness she didn't break Becky's Grandmother's china as she was rummaging through her cupboards!
Lola also had time to show Becky & Fan how she likes to listen to Madonna songs on my phone.

Before heading back home we stopped by the Village Inn for dinner.
We had a wonderful day! It was so great to see everyone!

walking update

Lola is up to 6 steps now! Yay Lola!!!!
Note: Lola will only walk in these shoes... the $3.00 Wal-Mart special, not her $25 Stride Right shoes or $30 Robeez.

Check her out as she makes 6 steps forward but not before looking both ways for crossing animals.

puppies & kittens

In the photo above we see how a Mom cat carries her kitten.
In the video below we see how Lola carries her Bruce look-a-like.
Similar indeed. She may think she's an animal, I don't know, I'm still trying to figure her out. I mean she does eat food off the floor at school. If she continues to carry Bruce look-a-like around with her mouth once she's walking we will seek therapy for her.

Make sure to check out The Daily Squink for photos of the kids playing house on Saturday, Angela has a handful of great photos posted!

Mother's Day Miracle!

Today was a lovely Mother's Day! Not the rainy day but the company of Lola & Aaron. They let me sleep in until 10am!!! Wow! When I woke up they made French toast & bacon for breakfast and they even cleaned up! About the time I was ready to start my day they were ready for a morning nap which they took.
After nap time we headed for Build a Bear where Lola picked out a cute bear and a couple of little friends for her bear.
When we got back home the Mother's Day Miracle happened, Lola took her first steps! 4 max! Yay Lola! She's very wobbly on those little feet of hers.
In the below video she shows off her new skill but only a couple of steps. Daddy has to coax her with apple juice. yummm... apple juice.

And Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms that check up on LOLApalooza!

Birthday at Faketown

I had a wonderful birthday yesterday! Thank you everyone for the cards, phone calls & b-day wishes! And the beautiful flowers sent to the office, Pam & Julie!

I worked half a day yesterday looking forward to an afternoon with Lola. Unfortunately we didn't get to go for a long walk or play outside because she fell asleep for 2 hours! She woke up in time to get ready for swim class. After class we had dinner with Rowan and his family at the Cheesecake Factory. (Thank you Angela for a nice birthday dinner!!)

After dinner we went to Faketown Square where the kids had so much fun playing in the water! It was a perfect evening with my family & friends, I'm a lucky 35 year old! To see photos from the past couple of days click here.

Tornado Drill

I arrived at Lola's school today in the middle of a tornado drill.
Total insanity!
Thank goodness I had my camera phone!
The babies were in fire evacuation cribs and crammed in a little hallway. Most were crying. I imagine one kid starts crying (Brody) and it forms a chain reaction. Lola was an absolute basket case which is rare for her. Once back in her classroom she calmed down.

P.S. Just kidding Brody.

Battle of the Face Eaters

Lola vs. Nicole

Confused? That's Lola on the left modeling my knock off D&G's. Nicole is on the right wearing the real thing at a couple hundred more dollars. They both have great fashion however Lola wins hands down as The Cutest Girl Modeling Face Eaters. And her Mom (me) clearly takes better photos than the paparazzi.

YFZ trend

In an effort to keep up with the latest YFZ trend Lola's cousin Celia hit the nail on the head! She totally looks like a sect kid on her wedding day!!! Celia - You've got Lola beat, her Gymboree dress doesn't look half bad anymore.

In other news Lola's x-rays came back and the results stated that there are no "foreign objects" in her little tummy, yay! She's tipping the scales at 18 lbs 8 oz. so it looks like she'll be riding backwards in her car seat until she's in kindergarten. It's my job as her Mom to protect her and keep her safe so I will follow all rules, however, facing forward does seem like it will be a lot easier so I've decided to feed her spoon fulls of butter, mayo & frosting so that she can gain the weight needed to face forward!

Of course swimming twice a week keeps her pretty trim and in shape.

Speaking of swimming the spring team is in training! Lola along with her friends Rowan, Max & Brody have class twice a week and they seem to be giving it their all! Go team!

The 2008 Spring Swim Team having a meeting immediately following training.
