Historical Landmark

The Bellbrook Sugarcreek Historical Society has recognized our house as a historical landmark.
Last winter our historical society located 200 old homes, cemeteries, churches and schools and in an effort to recognize these buildings offered plaques to the owners.
We received our plaque this afternoon and I kindly asked Aaron to hang it IMMEDIATELY! I've only been waiting 6 months for the plaque to arrive.
The plaque is hung to the right of our front door. It's hard to see in the above photo but it's there. I loved my house to begin with and now I love it even more!

Hey Em,
That is really neat! I feel like I am on a historical home tour. Yesterday as part of my mother's day plan, we stopped in Oak Park to check out the Frank Lloyd Wright home and Studio on Chicago Ave. I had never really been interested in it before, but I am reading this really good book about his notorious affair Loving Frank and really wanted to see it. Your home may be famous one day too.

That is so nice!!
Now you need to do some research on the history of your house and make a little book for Lola.

That is so neat! I like your mom's idea to make a book about the house! Let us know when it's done.

hey - i have a great idea - i can take you down to my cousins house - she has always lived in bellbrook - she grew up there - she lives in that registered historical home and has books about a lot of the homes in the area - and she has a great memory - she may be able to help you with your 'book' ;)

When we lived in Logansport, we lived in a house built in 1875 and did I love doing the research on it. I even went to the cemetery and looked up the graves of the people who built it. We were the 4th owners. It had been converted into apartments back in the 20's and we lived in it while Joe put it back to the original. Joe called it the house from H---, but I LOVED it.

Hi Marmie,
We are also the 4th family to own our house. The house was built in aprox. 1880. The records in our county start at 1900 so we weren't able to pinpoint it exactly. Our inspector estimated 1880 because of how the attic was built.
My wonderful neighbor has a parent who grew up in this house and her uncle lived here from 1927 - 1997 when he passed away. I visit his grave every time I go for a walk up to the cemetery along with his parents who bought the house in 1927. I've asked my neighbor for photos becasue I would like to have one of him on display in the house.
I also have the history of the land & house in a binder.
Please stop by when you are in town. In no time it will be walking distance! yay!

Oh I have always loved your house - I used to dream about sitting on the front porch drinking lemonade when I lived in Bellbrook. And you have made it so warm and cozy inside - just like I always knew it would be! I LOVE your house!
